Over 90% of the participants reported their knowledge of being an European citizen had increased through participation in the project and experiencing each others cultures and lives. Almost all students also increased their knowledge of the different education system in the partner country and its culture and history.
All the Italian students, 100%, said their language competencies improved. Half of the UK students had stated a positive effect on their language competencies - a good result since Italian is not currently on the UK school's curriculum. Pupils had felt the project had helped their MFL subjects of German and Spanish.
Almost 95% of the pupils reported that they had more confidence in their own ability; the other 5% stated that they already had the confidence! The same proportion felt their ability to establish relationships with peers and adults had improved.
All students from the UK, 100%, stated that their knowledge and skills of extracting essential oils had improved. The experience of taking the plants from the garden and firsthand extract the oil to then make soaps and creams was an enriched learning experience for the group, which manefested into a sharing of knowledge to other students in school back home. Only a third of Italian students however said that their knowledge of extraction of essential oils had improved. Half of the students who particpated said they were motivated to study sciences further, but all pupils were continuing on their lifelong learning journey.
Everyone would encourage others to participate and try something new. The assembly below was delivered to the whole school to encourage them to try something new!
